“We worked with Small Carpenters at Large on three major renovations to our home since 2002 - attic master bedroom suite; expanding small galley kitchen to large open kitchen connected to den and a screened porch with portico below. Our renovations were done with care and precision and built to last, so much so that almost 15 years later, we are still enjoying their outstanding craftsmanship.” – Jaime and Todd Cregar
The homeowners wanted to make many changes including adding space to their house but without changing the overall character. On the first floor, we renovated the dated galley kitchen and opened it up to an adjacent bedroom that became a comfortable family room. These rooms opened up to a screened porch addition that replaced an existing deck. Below the porch, we created a sitting area that connected to a new back yard patio. A master suite was also on the wish list, so we were able to add this space by finishing the existing attic. By building a gabled dormer at the back of the roof to gain the height we needed, we did not have to change the appearance of the house from the street. The new master suite included an open bedroom, generous closet space, a large bathroom, and an office area. The renovations created open bright spaces both inside and out that tie together beautifully.
